Starting points

What can we make a mould from?

If it can be photographed, scanned, modelled or physically measured, it can usually be assessed.

Mould strategies

Different parts need different moulds.

Open decorative mould and resin ornament examples

One-piece silicone mould

Simple open shapes and low-volume casting.

Opened two-part silicone mould with registration keys

Two-part silicone mould

Detailed parts that need controlled release.

Brush-on silicone and support shell mould examples

Brush-on silicone mould

Larger surfaces where a poured block is wasteful.

Silicone mould with rigid support shell and finished castings

Silicone mould with support shell

Keeps flexible silicone stable during casting.

GRP production mould

Repeatable fibreglass and composite parts.

CAD mould design and multi-part silicone mould components

Multi-part complex mould

Undercuts, returns and more demanding geometry.

Initial guide

Which mould route?

Likely route: digital preparation -> master pattern -> silicone mould -> resin casting.

This is a starting-point guide, not a final technical specification. Mould material, split strategy and casting method still need review against the real part.

Digital mould design

Plan the mould before it is made.

Mouldcraft can design the practical details that make a mould usable, repeatable and easier to cast from.

Common questions

What can I send you?

A physical part, STL, OBJ, STEP file, 3D scan, photos, sketch or concept image can all start the conversation.

Can you help if I do not have a 3D file?

Yes. Send photos, dimensions and the purpose of the part. Mouldcraft can help create or prepare a digital route first.

How do I know which mould material I need?

It depends on shape, finish, casting material and quantity. The selector gives an initial guide; the quote confirms the route.

How much does a mould cost?

Cost depends on size, complexity, mould type and production intent. Send what you have and Mouldcraft will quote the practical route.
