Common questions

Why does layup method change the resin quantity so much?

Vacuum bagging and infusion squeeze out excess resin, achieving a higher fibre-to-resin ratio (lighter, stronger parts) than a hand wet lay-up, which typically settles around 50/50 by weight.

Which cloth weight should I choose?

200gsm is a good general-purpose choice. Lighter cloth (160gsm) wraps tighter curves more easily; heavier cloth (300-400gsm) builds thickness faster on large, simple panels.

Do I need vacuum bagging or infusion equipment?

Only if you choose those layup methods — a wet lay-up needs no special equipment. If you're new to composites, wet lay-up is the easiest starting point.
